Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) was developed in the early 20th century, and focuses on grappling and ground fighting. BJJ is considered a combat sport, and a self-defense system that uses submission holds, joint locks and choke holds to subdue their opponent. With our Submission Grappling Class, students are taught all aspects of BJJ and wrestling. All our grappling is done without the Gi (uniform) to make training more reality based for street defense and for MMA competition. Since our adversaries on the street and our competitors in the cage will not be wearing a Gi, we don't train using them.
So here is the run-down! Each class will begin with a warm-up and stretch to loosen up the muscles and prevent injury. This will then be followed by wrestling basics such as takedowns, sprawls, etc. Following wrestling technique, the class will then be taught ground techniques from all positions. After that we will do live drills and end with a team cool down. At the end students will be given time to go over technique or roll live.
